No-Fault Divorce

« Back to Glossary Index

A no-fault divorce is a type of divorce in which the spouse filing for divorce does not have to prove any fault or wrongdoing on the part of the other spouse to obtain a divorce

No-fault divorce eliminates the need to accuse and prove grounds like adultery, desertion, or cruelty. Instead, the divorce can be granted based on the irretrievable marriage breakdown.
