Being awarded physical custody in divorce refers to where a child lives and which parent is responsible for their day-to-day care

There are two main types of physical custody:

Primary Physical Custody: One parent has the child residing with them most of the time, while the other parent typically has visitation rights.

Joint Physical Custody: The child spends significant time residing with both parents, usually according to a pre-determined schedule.
