The Department of Transportation is the federal agency responsible for regulating interstate (between states) moving companies

This federal government regulates moving companies that cross state lines and sets forth licensing requirements that interstate moving companies must comply with including mandating that interstate moving companies publish their price list for the services they offer consumers.

Licensed interstate moving companies are also required to participate in a Dispute Settlement Program sponsored by the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA).
