Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows a business entity to reorganize and pay creditors over time

Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code allows the company to reorganize and prioritize the payment of its debts over a specific time period set by the trustee. A Chapter 11 debtor usually proposes a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time so it can reach a state of solvency.
