Bedsores are scraping injuries to the skin and underlying soft tissue resulting from prolonged contact and pressure on the skin and is usually a sign of elder abuse

Bedsores can happen to anyone but usually affect people confined to a bed or who sit in a wheelchair for long periods of time. Bedsores are commonly found in cases involving elder abuse where the patient is confined to a bed and the health care attendant fails to reposition the patient as medically required.
