Legal term that describes the person who conveys ownership of their real property to another by granting ownership of the property generally through a trust or will, or through some other combination of these testamentary devices

The grantor is the person that conveys property or a right in the property to another.

  • Someone who creates a trust is known as the settlor.
  • The person who owns the property and establishes the trust is called the settlor.
  • The person who conveys the property is called the grantor.
