Most tenancies have a rental term with the most common form being a periodic rental lease

A periodic rental agreement is one in which the lease term runs from week-to-week, month-to-month, or year-to-year.

Four major types of tenancy:

  • Fixed-term tenancy 
  • Periodic tenancy (ex: month-to-month)
  • Tenancy at sufferance (holdover)
  • Tenancy at will
