HIPPA is a federal privacy rule that protects consumers from unlawful disclosure of their health and medical records and information

HIPPA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (1969) and is the federal law requiring national standards to protect the consumer’s health information from being disclosed without the patient’s consent or knowledge.

The Privacy Rule also contains standards for consumer rights to control how healthcare providers use their health and medical information. The HIPAA rules provide important uses of information while protecting the privacy of people who seek healthcare and medical attention.
