The remaining monetary value of the property after its sale

In real estate matters, the property’s market value is the value minus any debts owed on the property. In most homeowner situations, the equity one receives upon the home’s sale is the amount one would receive after paying off the mortgage and any outstanding liens and taxes on the property. In legal terms, this is mostly related to remaining equity in home foreclosure cases.
