Compounding A Felony

A situation in which the victim of a crime is persuaded to accept a bribe for their silence.

The act of being harmed by a perpetrator, then reaching an agreement with the one causing the harm that the victim will not tell the authorities in exchange for money or some other form of compensation.

It is often equated to accepting a bribe for silence.

Compounding a Felony is similar to the crime of Misprision Of Felony in that both are witnesses (the former being both the victim and the witness) to a felony but then the witness agrees not to report the crime to the authorities.
