Federally Funded Health Centers To Underserved Communities

What is a Federally Funded Community Health Center?

HRSA funds nearly 1,400 health centers collectively operating more than 14,000 service delivery sites in communities across the country.

Health centers are community-based organizations that offer essential primary and preventive care services to populations with limited access to health care. Services available can range from basic doctor’s visits, immunizations, health screenings, laboratory and radiology, pharmacy, dental, and mental health services.

Health centers are locally-based and patient-directed health centers that deliver comprehensive and quality primary health care services to the nation’s most vulnerable individuals and families. including people experiencing financial hardship, residents of public housing, and veterans.

Federally funded Community Health centers integrate access to pharmacy, mental health, substance use disorder, and oral health services in areas where there is limited access to affordable health care.
