Wage, hour and overtime pay are enforced by both federal and state labor laws
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) establishes minimum hourly wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and youth employment laws to protect employees in the private and public employment sectors.
Employers who willfully violate the minimum wage or overtime pay laws are subject to a civil money penalty of up to $1,000 for each violation. Repeat offenders can also face criminal penalties.
